The Golden Shore

The Golden Shore is a Tier 1 one-shot designed for 3-5 players. It runs approximately 3-4 hours and emphasizes exploration, roleplay, and emotional storytelling over combat. There are fights to be had — the corruption that gnaws at the forest's edge is real and dangerous — but the heart of this adventure is a farewell.

This adventure is about grief, loyalty, and the courage it takes to let go. Ava is not a villain. She is not even an obstacle in the traditional sense. She is someone who loved so fiercely that she forgot how to stop. The players' job is not to defeat her — it is to show her that her watch is over, that she was good, and that it is safe to rest.

Play her with joy. She is not a sad, mournful ghost. She is a dog — exuberant, tireless, always moving, always checking on everyone. The sadness is underneath, in the moments between: when she pauses at the lakeshore and stares across the water, when she returns to an empty campsite and lies down beside a cold fire pit, when she hears a name that isn't hers and her ears lift for just a second before falling again.
